Why did Jack Sparrow cut himself?
In pirates of the carribbean 1 the curse of the black pearl, i noticed something.
In the battlescene right before Jack throws the medalion to will, he cuts his own hand with the knife and then throws it to him. Why?
Is Jack some how related to Will?

no he is not-
He took one of the medallions so he was cursed too-
and to break the curse "blood must spill" in other words the blood of whoever took the medallion or their relative must be on the medallion when it is returned-
and thus him doing that and will doing it to his medaliion broke the curse and barbossa and his men and jack were back to normal
the reason he took the medallion was so he would be cursed and not get killed in the fighting
