Why am I having so much trouble sharpening a knife?
This is a buck model 110 and seems much harder to sharpen than other Buck knives I have owned in the past.I have the very best of sharpening hones, diamond and carborundum equipment available and lots of previous experience so this is a irksome issue. Any knowledgeable suggestions welcome.Thanks in advance.

The most likely reason is that this particular knife is made of harder forged and tempered steel than others you have had, making the sharpening process take longer. Buck knives are intended for heavy and prolonged use so that they do not lose their edge as quickly.
If it has been allowed to get really dull, the sharpening will also take longer, as it will if the angle of grinding and sharpening is too shallow. Since you are experienced at sharpening and most likely are aware of the optimum angle for sharpening this particular knife, the hardness of the steel itself is the main factor.
