Do I need a special tool to change the valve stem for my tubeless tire?
I have seen valve stem removers and inserters. Can I do this with my fingers or pliers?
What you need is a pair of long or needle nose pliers and a pair of diagonal cutters. The main thing to take into account is you will need to break the bead on the tire so you can get to the valve stem from inside the rim. Take the diagonal cutters and cut into the base of the old valve stem inside the rim, then position the handle of the cutters on the rim and use the pliers to grab ahold of the old valve stem. Push down on the base of the pliers' handle and you should be able to pop the old valve stem out. From there take your new valve stem and place it inside the rim and bring it up through the hole, grab ahold of it with the pliers and once again placing the handle on the rim push down so it pulls the stem up, popping it into place.
