My freshwater tank looks like creek water what do i do?
I have a 48gallon tank. lots of fish including an angel fish a shark a lobster a black knife fish and a betta fish. I did a 50% water change and the water cleared up but within hours of the cleaning the water became murky again. the water looks like creek water. any help would be great.
you have an algae bloom.
only a total water change will fix it, unless you want to use a chemical algae killer, but BE WARNED!!
When I used three drops in my 5 gallon betta tank, (the bottle said use a tsp for 5 gallons) it KILLED my frogs and the betta was terribly sick for a week.
Set up and cycle a different tank (at this point, since it is a holding tank, it can be a bit smaller than they are used to, but use extra salt to reduce stress.)
Transfer the fish to the new tank and clean everything in your algae tank with bleach water.
Use a good dechlorinator to remove all traces of bleach, then reassemble your tank.
You can help it cycle quicker by using the temporary tank water as a base for your 48g.
let me know if you have any more questions, and good luck.
