Shipping and possesion of Butterfly knives in Massachusetts?????? HELP!!?
Is it legal to have a butterfly knife shipped to my house if I live in Massachusetts, and by legal I mean is there any way for me to be caught. What about possesion of a butterfly knife in Massachusetts? And what about spring loaded knives like switchblades stilletos etc
I know that Massachusetts does not allow such blades. It would be illegal. As a practical matter, if it somehow got shipped to you (most reputable vendors will refuse orders from such states), it would only be detected if the package was x-rayed,searched. I would say this is unlikely, but in today's world you never know for sure. If you want a one hand knife, there is a new technology called "assisted opening" that I don't think has been banned yet that you might get away with. Assisted opening uses a transfer bar to finish an opening motion that is started and reaches a certain point. I think you could have this and fill the niche your switch would have without the legal issue.
