how do i sharpen a curved edged stiletto knife? (the trigger assist)?
So the trick to sharpening any knife, regardless of whether it is curved or not, is to make sure the actual edge bevel is being drug across a stone or ceramic to make it smooth. At some point if you have done this right you will create a kerf or wire edge. At which point, then to flip the knife over and do the same thing on the other side. The finer the stone you use the smaller the scratches in the edge.
Now, the problem is, if the edge isn't straight (like a Warncliff blade) then you have to either rotate the stone or rotate the knife to make sure you keep the same angle on the edge all the time.
One way of doing this is to use a ceramic rod - you still have to work to make sure you maintain the same angle to the rod so that the bevel stays in contact, but this is much easier to do than on a wide stone if the blade is curved like a Kerambit.
Now, you can still use a normal stone - you just use an edge. So, virtually all stones are rectangular therefore if you just use one of the long edges of the stone you can effectively use it just like a rod. I sharpen all of my knives on a stone.
