Is there a recommended way to dispose of steak and cutlery knives once replaced?

I can put them in the new knives' box and secure with tape, but there's a chance they'll poke through and hurt someone. Is there a standard/recommended way people do this?

Put them in a garbage bag and wrap it in tape....like wrap and wrap and wrap it until they knives cant come through the tape!!!
