knife torch
What is the toughest piece of self-treatment you have done to your own body?

For me it was cutting a pus filled sore at the back of my throat so that it could drain. I used my my Swiss-army knife and a torch and did it in a dodgy motel while in the Peruvian Amazon.

I spat out heaps of pus afterwards and spent a week gargling salty water so it wouldn't get infected.

Those were the days....

I once performed cardiac bypass surgery on myself using only a sharpened stone, shoe laces for sutures and a small vanity mirror to guide me. I was lost in the Australian bush at the time and only had Skippy the Bush Kangaroo to assist me. Fortunately, the operation was a complete success and to celebrate I ate Skippy - I still have the kangaroo-skinned undies as a memento.
