Need help purchasing Kitchen Knifes. Which is better buy?
I have two sets in my mind to buy of kitchen knifes but not sure what will be a better buy and why?
Option A: Chicago Cutlery is a 10-pc. Knife Block set. It comes with a paring knife, four steak knife, utility/ boning knife, chef's knife, slicing knife, sharpening steel, and 12 slot wood storage block. All for $59.95
Option B: Chicago Cutlery is a 12-pc. knife block set. It comes with paring knife, utility knife, chefs knife, six steak knifes, kitchen shears, and hardwood knife block. All for $69.95
Which is a better buy and why?
After owning a set of Chicago Cutlery knives, I would suggest buying neither. They dull easily, mostly because they are poor quality. I will pass on the same advise to you that was given to me, alas after I had purchased the set. Always buy quality. They will be more expensive up front, but will last years longer and provide much better service. Even if it means buying one or two Henkel, Wustof, or Shun at a time, you will be better off, and happier,in the long run. I would check Ebay, and oddly enough, Williams-Sonoma often puts their knives on sale for good prices.
