well im going to buy a knife from sog
but i want to know which on of these knives are better
the sog tiger shark
or the sog jungle primitive
Between those two, the Tigershark (according to their website) is running AUS 8 steel which is approximately equivalent to 440A or 440B depending on exactly how you heat treat it. The Jungle Primative is running 420 Stainless which only has at best about .4% carbon, which until recent times wasn't deemed to be enough to consider it a "cutlery steel". In comparison AUS8 runs somewhere between .8% and 1% depending on exact formulation.
What does this mean? Well, the Primitive is quoted as running an RC51 - 53 which means you aren't going to be able to keep a sharp edge on it for long. The Tigershark is listed at 57 - 58 which is generally viewed as a pretty good balance for a knife that will clearly be used for chopping as much as cutting.
So, to bring long answer to a close - the Tigershark is the "better" product.
