Knife sharpening for oboe reed knives (double hollow-ground)?

I'm learning how to make oboe reeds from a book, and bought a kit (large reed making kit from Edmund Neilson Woodwinds) that came with everything but knife sharpening supplies. My mother is a sculptor, and had a knife sharpener, but it wasn't the same as I've had reccomened to me. Most the tips offer a water-stone, or an oil-stone, but what I have is honing paste and a leather strop. Would that work for my reed knife, or should I let my mom keep it for her sculpting work? I really need to sharpen ky knife so I can attempt my second reed. I think it'll be fine, I mean, it IS made to sharpen knives, but I've never heard about the honing paste with leather strop before I recieved it.
Thank you; I really hope someone knows what I'm talking about!

AN OBOE QUESTION!!! AWESOME!!!
Sorry, I'm an oboist, and I'm stoked to find someone asking questions oboe related. Whew, needed to get that out of my system.

They'll hook you up with everything you need, and it's all decently priced.
Double hollowed-ground is a good knife, and I would recommend a diamond sharpening stone. You can use a strop, but stones are probably better. And in reed making, keep your knife sharp, it helps.

If you have more questions, please email me at hoboefly@gmail.com. I'll do my best to answer your questions, and if I can't, I can easily find someone who can.
