Would a 'better knife rack' benefit the culinary world?

I've heard of problems with the wooden slotted block style(mildew growth) as well as with the magnetic wall mounted(rusting,knicking).

The wooden block will be my choice as it is soft to the blade and as you steel and wipe your blade each time you get it out you will have no problem with any mildew growth.
You can solve that mildew problem merely by keeping the blocks in a cool place and dry your knives before returning them to the block.
