Knife to the heart; surgery question.?
I need to remove a knife in surgery from someone who has just been stabbed in the heart. (Part of book plot). I am well versed in the medical field (tissue tech, EMS, ECG( but have no idea how this is done or how to decscribe it realistically. I need to describe how the knife is removed, or at least amble through the process. I need to know things like, drugs, what to cut first, do I remove the knife?, If so, when ... and the overall process.
Anyone feel like sharing a little knowledge on how this is done? I hate to make it up and have it sound unrealistic ... and I would like the reader to learn a little something from it as well ...
you cant pull it out at once.....you would or might bleed to death....the damages blood vessels have to be repaired or clamped in order to pull it out.
