Has anyone witnessed glue holding a very heavy weight suspended?
I'm thinking of gluing a magnetic bar to my kitchen tiles to hold a selection of knives. I want to avoid drilling holes in the tiles. Some of the glues in the local DIY shop claim to be really strong, as if they could suspend dumbbells from the ceiling, I just can't believe glue can be this strong. I'm worried that I will be cooking one day and the sharp knives will jump of the wall and impale themselves in my feet. Has anyone first hand experience of glues holding heavy weights?
Look at websites of manufacturers of glues, I think you need specialist advice, tiles and steel are notoriously difficult to get clean enough for adhesives. If your tiles are still current I would buy a couple and rawlplug your knives safely. If you want to change your mind it is not difficult to replace single tiles.
