Can I mail a knife to an APO?

I bought my deployed husband a Kabar knife... can I send it through the mail to his APO address??

Yes, it is not a problem to mail it to him. Don't bother insuring, though because postal insurance only covers it to the NY APO...not to its final destination.

It will likely be X-rayed before it is received, so make sure you declare the knife on the customs form you will have to fill out to mail it. If you are concerned it may be stolen, send the package with delivery confirmation so you can see when it was signed for. Make sure you seal the package well. I used to put a blank shipping label inside the seam of the box on the bottom and then when I taped the box, I would sign my name along the seam so that if it is opened, the person receiving it would know it had been opened.
