I cut my middle finger with a butter knife to the right of the nail,its not deep but wont stop bleeding?
What should I do b/c its not deep enough to stich. Could I have hit a vein?
you do have small veins in your fingers if it is a small cut
and you do not want to go to the docs you need to put direct pressure on it
and do not look at it every two Min's
either hold it tight and do not let go for at least 30 Min's
or wrap something on it tightly it is better to put a bandage on it first or gauze so after you can take off the wrapping and not disturb the wound
if you soak through the bandage put another on top of it do not take it off
if you take off the bandage you will take off the clot that is forming and you will continue to bleed.
and keep still so your pulse does not go up.
after 60 to 90 Min's you need to release some of the pressure on it if you have it wrapped all the way around if you can do not take off the bandage from on top of it
stitches do not stop this kind of bleeding any way.
make sure you keep an eye on how much blood you have lost.
