Are metal rulers allowed on an airplane?

I might take a trip on the airplane sometime soon. So, I just wanted to ask if metal rulers are allowed on airplanes or are they considered to be weapons? The ruler that I have is not one of those extra thin and bendable kinds that can cut like knives; the one I that I have is sort of thick and cannot cut anyone even if I tried. Thank you for the answers.
Also, is wax allowed on airplane? I'm talking about wax for hair, like Gatsby.
Well, technically, almost anything can be used to hurt someone if done right, like smashing somebody's head with a PSP, but are rulers considered to be knives even if it can cut anyone?
Well, yea....I won't be putting it into my pocket or anything. Of course I'll keep it in my luggage as I won't need to work on an airplane, but will they take it AWAY from the luggage?

no because its metal and it can be used to hurt somebody. most metal things arent allowed on airplanes. pretty much you can only have things made from metal like glasses, ipods, phones and other paraphernalia. <-- big word 8D
