Are there specific knuckle knife techniques and, if so, where can I learn them?
I recently came upon a 9 1/2 in. knife with brass knuckle guard and am unsure as to whether I should employ traditional knife fighting techniques or learn a new skill set specific to the blade.
My advice is to not use it unless you already know how to knife fight. Knife fighting, at least the way I was taught (Filipino styles), has a lot of subtle moves that would be more difficult with one's hand locked in place. I also prefer a knife where I can change grips easily if necessary.
The upside of this knife is that you don't need to worry about your grip slipping. It also gives you another potentially non-lethal method of disabling an opponent other than a pommel strike.
As far as where to learn, I don't know of any arts that teach techniques that are specific to this knife.
