would the airport let me bring my knife in luggage?

I recently bought an 10.9 inch fixed blade survival knife called the Gerber Lmf ii. I live in New jersey, but I go to Russia every year in the summer, and go camping/hiking in the wilderness of Siberia every year, as well. Now, I payed a bit under $100 for this knife and it would be a shame to have them confiscate it in the airport, due to me not letting me bring it with me to russia. Now, my question is: Is there a limit on the length of the blade, when bringing it on the luggage of the plane (the part that doesn't come on with you) My blade length is a tad less then 5 inches, so please let me know if it would be possible for me to bring it to Russia.

You can bring knives with you for personal use into other countries. You must pack it in your checked luggage. If you put it in your carry-on you will get it confiscated at security.

When you go through customs in another country, you do not declare anything if everything you have is for personal use. As far as I know, five inch knives are not illegal in Russia.

edit: People bring swords and stuff back from Europe all the time, so I'm sure a knife that small isn't going to be a problem. And it's not the TSA that would confiscate something illegal in Russia, it's the customs in Russia that would, and as I said, anything that is for personal use does not have to be declared.
