How to carry a knife.?

I have a pocket knife, the Gerber Fast Draw, and I found out that it is legal to carry, but how can I carry it? Can I have it clipped onto my belt, and have the whole knife (in closed position) showing?

The first question that comes into my mind is, Why would you want to carry it around where it can be seen? To be cool? To be tough? To try to show people you're a Quick Draw McGraw? Why?

One of the other guys here said it pretty well: 'they're called pocket knives for a reason.' If you must carry it outside your pocket, try putting it in a belt case. That way you can carry it where it can be seen without being seen - if you follow my drift.

Bottom line: Just can't see any reason to advertise you're carrying a knife - especially in New York.
