I think my Black Ghost Knife Fish is an assassin?
We never had any problems in our tank before he moved in so I'm assuming it is him who has killed 2 black moors by eating their eyes. (gross I know) Anyone else experienced this with BGK's?
Oh, my gosh! This type of fish is death in a community aquarium! Don't get me wrong; they make wonderful pets. They are unusually intelligent for fish, and can even learn to recognize their masters! However, they are, as you say, assassins. They will eat anything that they can fit into their mouths, including the eyes of other fish. Your knifefish probably thinks you are a very generous human to provide him with such easy prey as fancy goldfish like black moors, which are pretty delicate and not able to escape a predator. Also, be sure you have room for a fish that will most likely grow to over two feet in length (at least 100 gallons). If you still want to keep your other fish, you're going to have to get him his own tank, or take him back to where he came from. Did you tell the person who sold you your knifefish that you planned on making him your black moors' roommate? If you did, and they said that was fine, find another fish dealer for your future purchases! And please, next time do some research before adding a new species to your tank, so you can avoid similar disasters!
